This verse has special meaning to me because my parents monogrammed it onto a tote for me when I was little. I kept my Bible and daily devotion book in the tote, which I kept next to my bed. As I've gotten older, I've come to cherish this verse more and its meaning. When we seek God, He creates in us a pure heart and we are better able to live a life that pleases Him- and that's the kind of life I want to live.
I thought I’d share a helpful study method I use for getting the most out of reading the Bible. It’s called SOAP.
First I pick a chapter to read from the Bible, then write down in a special journal the verses that stood out to me.
After I have written the verses down, I then write what I've learned and what God is trying to teach me.
I then think about how this scripture can be applied to my life.
To close, I pray and ask God to help me apply the scripture to my life.

I'm a planner and extremely futuristic; this can be a good characteristic but also a downfall if something doesn't go according to my "perfect plan." Whenever something doesn't go my way, or I'm stressed about school, the future, etc.— I read the verse Jeremiah 29:11 and am reminded that God is always in control and His plan for my life is far more greater than my own.
Sometimes when I pray I can become distracted. I love using the ACTS prayer method because it helps me to stay focused and covers everything that I need to pray about.
How to pray:
Adoration- Praise God
"Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain." - Psalm 48:1
Confession- Confess your sins
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
Thanksgiving- Thank God for all He has done for you
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Supplication- Make your requests to God - for yourself and others
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

When I wake up in the morning, I have a choice to make the most of my day. I love this verse because it's a great reminder that every day is a gift from God and I should live for Him.
"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you" - Psalm 143:8a
There are many ways to start the day. I love starting mine with God while sipping a hot cup of tea. I have found that putting God first honors Him and in turn blesses me. It’s a win-win!
My favorite way to spend time with God is to read His word. Some mornings I open the Bible randomly and start reading from that place. However, most days I will choose a specific part of the Bible to read. If you have not read the Bible before, John is a great place to start!
I also enjoy reading the Bible by topics. In the back of most Bibles there is a subject guide. If I want to read what God says about certain topics, this is where I turn. Topics include things such as forgiveness, hope, love, and suffering – just to name a few.
I do not always put God first each morning; I am a work in progress! But I've noticed, that if I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, after I have spent time with God He helps me start the day on the right foot.
On a side note, how “darling” is this mug?! My boyfriend Connor surprised me with it! Boys take note…I’ll be writing a post just for you guys soon.
