Here are my top tips on how to have a better online shopping experience. Plus a list of my favorite e-tailers.
FILTER & SORT
To shop more efficiently, I use the filter and sort options. These options narrow down the merchandise so you can easily find products in a desired size size, color, and price (to name a few).
USE THE SIZE GUIDE
Sizes can vary depending on the style and brand, and without trying on the clothes, it can be hard to tell which will fit best. That’s when the size chart comes in handy. I just match up my measurements with those recommended on the chart to find my size.
READ REVIEWS
If customer reviews are available, I will take the time to read them. These can provide more details about the quality and fit of a garment. Some reviews even include images, which can help you get a better idea of what the item looks like in person.
CHECK THE RETURN POLICY
Be sure to check if the item can be returned and for how long, or if it’s final sale. Having the option to make a return is important because you aren’t able to physically try-on and inspect your items before purchasing them online.
LOOK FOR DEALS
Most e-tailers offer some sort of discount on your first order or when you sign up for emails. Subscribing to a mailing list keeps you up-to-date on special deals and sales. The one downside is that your inbox can fill up quickly. One solution is to create a separate email account. Then, whenever you shop online, you can scroll through that mailbox to see what deals are available. Before purchasing anything, I copy and paste the name of the item in my browser to see if another site is selling it for less. Another tip is to use Honey. It’s a free browser extension that automatically finds, tests, and applies the best coupon code at checkout.
